Joseph Kimble

Distinguished Professor Emeritus

 Joseph Kimble taught legal writing for more than 30 years at WMU-Cooley Law School. He now provides seminars for legal and business organisations. He has written two books  Lifting the Fog of Legalese and Writing for Dollars, Writing to Please  along with many articles. He is senior editor of The Scribes Journal of Legal Writing and the longtime editor of the "Plain Language" column in the Michigan Bar Journal. Since 1999, he has been the drafting consultant on all US federal court rules. He has received several national and international awards, including a 2007 award from PLAIN for his leadership in the field.

The Hon Michael Kirby AC CMG

When he retired from the High Court of Australia in 2009, Michael Kirby was Australia’s longest serving judge. His appointment to the High Court of Australia came in 1996 and he served thirteen years.  Following his judicial retirement, Michael Kirby was elected President of the Institute of Arbitrators & Mediators Australia from 2009-2010. In 2013- 2014, he was appointed Chair of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights Violations in North Korea.  In December 2015 he was appointed by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to be a member of the United Nations High Level Panel on Health Technology Innovation and Access. 

Una Jagose

Solicitor-General, New Zealand

Una Jagose was appointed Solicitor-General from 15 February 2016. Before that she was Acting Director of the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) from February 2015 to February 2016. Prior to joining the GCSB, Ms Jagose worked as the Deputy Solicitor-General, Crown Legal Risk.  She joined Crown Law as Crown Counsel in 2002, and became a team leader in the Public Law group in 2007.  Before that, Ms Jagose was Chief Legal Advisor at the Ministry of Fisheries.  Ms Jagose has a wealth of experience representing the Crown in courts at all levels, and advising Ministers and public sector organisations on a range of public law and constitutional matters. Ms Jagose taught the public law module for Masters in Public Policy Course at Victoria University Wellington School of Government from 2011-2014.


Sarah McCoubrey

Strategist on access to justice issues

Sarah McCoubrey is a lawyer and an educator based in Toronto, Canada working as a Strategist on access to justice issues. Building on her 10 years in the legal non-profit sector, she now works with legal institutions and community organisations to bridge the gaps in understanding, participation and expectation between the justice system and its users.
Sarah's focus on collaborative approaches and systems change have led to involvement in complex problem solving and new ways of engaging the public in justice reform.

Mindset Coach, Motivational Speaker, & Leadership Specialist

Dr Paul Wood is an expert in helping people overcome the barriers that are holding them back from being who they really aspire to be. His TED talk was recently rated amongst the NZ Herald's top ten TED talks to watch. Paul is a blogger for the Huffington Post and regular contributor in the media. Yet at 18 Paul was a high-school dropout in prison for killing his drug dealer. Through his work with clients and his background in psychology, Paul understands the process of personal transformation and growth. But it is his own journey, from delinquent to doctor, that gives Paul the authenticity and power to act as a compelling catalyst for change.
